If you smell smoke in the house with the stove on, or you get a headache, nausea or drowsiness, there may be carbon monoxide, a gas you cannot see and that has no smell. Turn off the stove, open the windows and leave the room. If anyone feels unwell call 112. Do not relight it before a check, and never remove panels or covers with the plug in.

Seasonal cleaning skipped
Ash and soot build up in the flue passages, that is the internal channels where the smoke gives up its heat, and along the flue. The stove draws badly, uses more pellet and stops with an alarm.

Damp or poor pellet
Pellet that has absorbed moisture crumbles, leaves a lot of ash and struggles to light. With the humid air of a seaside city like Naples, where you store the bags matters a lot.

Worn glow plug
The glow plug is the electric heating element that heats the air and lights the pellet. After a few seasons it wears out and the stove stops starting.

Flue dirty or blocked
Soot, ash in the T-connector behind the stove or a nest on the chimney cap reduce the draught, the push that carries the smoke out of the house.

Sensors and control board
The pressure switch, which monitors flue gas extraction, and the flue gas probe, which measures its temperature, can fail and stop the stove even when everything else is fine.
What you can safely check yourself
- Check that there is pellet in the hopper and that the plug is in.
- With the stove off, cold and unplugged, empty the burn pot and check that its holes are clear.
- Look at the pellet: it should be shiny and hard. If it crumbles or looks swollen, it has absorbed moisture.
- Photograph the alarm on the display and the data plate with model and power, usually on the back.
Never open the boiler or the gas water heater, and always switch off the power before touching an electrical appliance. If in doubt, call us.

What we do on pellet stoves
Installation. We fit air stoves, ducted stoves and boiler stoves, the ones that heat the water for the radiators. First we check the room, the opening for air and the flue gas outlet. When the work is done we issue the declaration of conformity and fill in the system logbook.
Cleaning and maintenance. Once a year the stove must be opened and cleaned thoroughly: flue passages, flue gas fan, gaskets, flue duct. It is the job that avoids most alarms in the coldest weeks.
Repairs. Failed ignitions, alarms, noisy fans, a jammed auger, that is the screw that carries pellet from the hopper to the burn pot. We start from the code on the display and the history of the stove, then we measure the components with instruments.
Flue. We check and clean the flue gas outlet and, if it has to be rebuilt, we explain which route is compliant up to the roof and how much it costs.
The rules to know in Campania
A pellet stove counts as a heating system under DM 37/2008, letter C, which also covers the flue gas outlet and the ventilation of rooms. It must be installed by a qualified business, which issues the declaration of conformity at the end of the work. The technical standard for pellet and wood appliances up to 35 kW is UNI 10683:2022.
The Campania regional air quality law, no. 36 of 2020, allows only biomass appliances with an environmental class of at least 4 stars for new installations. The same law requires stoves under 35 kW to burn pellet certified in class A1 under the UNI EN ISO 17225-2 standard and to keep the purchase documents.
A fixed stove that heats the home should be treated as a heating system, with its logbook updated at every service. In Campania the inspection reports go into the regional register of heating systems provided for by regional law 39/2018. We check the updated thresholds and deadlines for biomass at every visit.
Where we work and how to book
The work is carried out by Air Tecnology Impianti di Pezone Mauro, a craft business based in Parete (CE), qualified under DM 37/2008 for heating systems (letter C). We work across Campania: most often in Naples, between Posillipo, Chiaia and the Vomero, then in the provinces of Naples and Caserta, and then in Salerno, Avellino and Benevento. The call-out cost grows with the distance from our base.
For a cleaning or a check you book online: you choose the day and time and the visit goes into the calendar with the time it needs. For a fault you request a home visit; the request is free and we call you back with a quote. If you want an opinion first, the video call costs 9.90 € for a maximum of 15 minutes and, if we then come to you, that 9.90 € is deducted from the bill.
If the stove is your only heating and it stops in the middle of winter, we are on call for emergencies, 24 hours a day including Sundays and public holidays, with a surcharge for nights and holidays, and you know the emergency call-out fee before we leave. We are not an official service centre for any manufacturer, so if the stove is still under warranty read the manufacturer's conditions first.

Do you service pellet stoves outside Naples too?
Yes, across Campania. The city of Naples and the provinces of Naples and Caserta are where we go most often. We also reach Salerno, Avellino and Benevento, with a call-out cost that rises with the distance from Parete.
Do you also work on boiler stoves?
Yes. On a boiler stove, besides the flue side, we check the water side: system pressure, the circulator, that is the pump that sends water to the radiators, and the safety valve.
Which pellet should I buy?
In Campania, for stoves under 35 kW, the regional law asks for pellet certified in class A1. On the bag look for the ENplus mark with class A1 and the company code, made of the country letters and three digits. Keep receipts and invoices.
Does a pellet stove need a system logbook?
If it is fixed and heats the home, yes. The installer fills it in and whoever services the stove updates it. If your stove does not have one, we prepare it during the first check.
