Gas systems in Naples: connections, changes and compliance
We work on home gas systems in Naples and across Campania: connecting cookers and hobs, moving points, making changes and providing compliance documents. By law, this work can only be done by a business qualified for letter E of DM 37/2008, and it ends with the declaration of conformity. Before booking the visit you can show us the system on a video call and find out what is needed.
Quote before we start about 1 hour 30 minutesHob connection, leak test, declaration of conformity

Do no DIY work on the gas system: no fittings tightened by hand, no pipes changed on your own, no tests with a flame. If you smell gas, do not switch on any lights or appliances, open the windows, go outside and call the distributor's emergency line or 112 from there.
Recognise the problem
- You have bought a new hob or cooker that needs connecting
- The date for replacing the rubber hose on your cooker has passed
- You need to move the gas point because you are redoing the kitchen
- The distributor is asking you for the system documentation
- You have bought a home and cannot find the gas system documents
- You want to remove gas from a room or replace an appliance
The most common causes
- 1
New appliances to connect
Cookers, hobs, water heaters and boilers must be connected to the system with the right fitting and a final tightness test.
- 2
Expired or unsuitable flexible hoses
A rubber hose conforming to UNI 7140 has an expiry date printed on it, which must be respected even if it looks in good condition. For built-in hobs you need a stainless steel flexible hose or a rigid pipe.
- 3
Changes and relocations
When a kitchen is redone or an appliance is moved, the modified section of the system must be built to standard and documented.
- 4
Missing documents
In many homes the gas system's declaration of conformity can no longer be found. Without it, activating a new supply or modifying the system means reconstructing the situation.
What you can safely check yourself
- Read on the cooker's rubber hose the date by which it must be replaced
- Check that the flexible hose is not crushed behind the units and does not touch the oven
- Look through your home documents for the gas system's declaration of conformity
- Check that the kitchen's ventilation openings are not closed or covered
- Photograph the meter, taps and connections, without taking anything apart
Never open the boiler or the gas water heater, and always switch off the power before touching an electrical appliance. If in doubt, call us.
When you need a technician at home
- A gas appliance has to be connected or replaced
- The cooker hose has expired or is not the right type
- A section of the system has to be moved, extended or closed off
- You need the declaration of conformity to activate the gas
- After the gas emergency service has attended, the system needs repair
Who can work on your gas system
DM 37/2008 divides home systems into letters. Letter E covers systems for gas distribution and use, including flue discharge and room ventilation. Only a business qualified for that letter can install, modify or extend the system.
The qualification is not a formality: the business answers for the work and declares it in writing. A cooker connection made without issuing anything leaves you without a document saying who did what, and how.
Air Tecnology Impianti di Pezone Mauro, based in Parete, is qualified for letter E as well as letters C and D. The same technician can therefore connect your hob, replace the gas water heater or work on the boiler system.
The declaration of conformity: what you receive at the end
At the end of every job on the gas system, after the required checks, including functional ones, the business gives you the declaration of conformity. It is the document in which it states that it has built the system according to the rules and technical standards.
Attached to the declaration are the report on the materials used and the design, or at least a diagram of the system. Keep it with the other documents for the home. You will need it to activate a supply, for future changes, and every time someone asks you how the system is built.
If the system was built before 27 March 2008 and the declaration cannot be found, the law provides for the declaration of rispondenza (compliance declaration). It is explained on the page about gas system certification.
Smell of gas, the meter and the areas we serve
If you smell gas, this is not the time for a video call. Do not switch lights or appliances on or off, open the windows, leave the home and call your distributor's gas emergency line from outside. The freephone number is on your bill. Alternatively, call 112.
The meter and the network up to it belong to the distributor. After the meter the system is yours. Once the emergency service has made it safe, the repair is done by a letter E qualified business.
We work in Naples and across Campania. The north of the city and the towns around Aversa and Giugliano are the closest to our base in Parete.
Want to know what it is first? Show us
On a video call you show us the meter, the route of the pipes, the kitchen tap, the flexible hose and the ventilation openings. We tell you what kind of work is needed and which documents you will have at the end, and we prepare the quote. The tightness test and the actual work are only done at your home, and if you smell gas, a video call is not the right route.
Video consultation, up to 15 minutes: €9.90 (€14.90 on Sundays), deducted from the bill if we then come to your home.

Frequently asked questions
Can I connect the hob to the gas myself?
No. Connecting a gas appliance is work on the system, and the law reserves it for letter E qualified businesses. At the end the business carries out the tightness test and gives you the declaration of conformity.
What is letter E?
It is the DM 37/2008 category that covers gas systems, including flue discharge and room ventilation. A business can work on gas only if it is qualified for this letter, and the qualification appears on its company registry extract (visura camerale).
What happens if I do not have the declaration of conformity?
It depends on when the system was built. For systems built before 27 March 2008, you can use the declaration of rispondenza. For later ones, the system is checked and, where needed, work is done, with a new declaration of conformity.
Can the distributor ask me for the system documents?
Yes. To activate gas on a new or modified system, the distributor carries out a document check, called the accertamento documentale, required by the ARERA rules. Without complete documents, the supply is not activated.
Is a video call useful for gas work?
It helps to understand what the job is, to see the spaces and connections and to prepare a sensible quote. It does not replace the tightness test or the work itself, which are only done on site.
