Recognise the problem

Failing connectors and flexible hoses
Most household leaks start under the sink or behind the toilet: a rusty flexible hose (the braided metal pipe that carries water to the tap), a loose fitting, or a seal hardened by age.

Old pipes inside the walls
In homes built between the 1960s and 1980s you still find galvanised iron pipes set into the walls. Over time they corrode from the inside and can pierce at a point you cannot see.

Worn taps
When a tap drips, it is usually the cartridge (the small cylinder with ceramic discs inside the mixer) that has failed, or the washer in an old two-handle tap.

Limescale
In many parts of Naples and its province the water is hard. Limescale blocks aerators, ruins cartridges and narrows the water passage in boiler and water heater heat exchangers.

Building or mains problems
If pressure is low throughout the building, the cause may be the shared booster pump (autoclave) or work on the utility's network, not your own plumbing.
What you can safely check yourself
- Find your main water valve now, before you need it. It is often in the bathroom or kitchen behind a small hatch in the wall, sometimes near the boiler or the front door.
- Learn to recognise the valves: lever valves are closed when the lever sits across the pipe, while handle valves close by turning clockwise.
- Under sinks and toilets there are small isolation valves. Closing them cuts off only that point and leaves water on in the rest of the home.
- If there is water on the floor near sockets or a power strip, switch off the main safety switch (salvavita) before you start mopping up.
- Photograph the problem and the brand of the tap or fitting. It saves us time when you book or on the video call.
Never open the boiler or the gas water heater, and always switch off the power before touching an electrical appliance. If in doubt, call us.

If water is escaping right now
The first thing is to stop the water, even before you call. Find the valve closest to the leak: under the sink, behind the toilet, behind the washing machine. If there is none or it is not enough, close the main valve of the flat.
If you cannot find the main valve, there is the one next to the water meter. In apartment buildings the meters are usually in a meter room on the ground floor or in the courtyard, all side by side. Check carefully that you are closing yours and not your neighbour's.

What can be solved remotely and what cannot
If you choose the remote consultation, with your phone in hand and our guidance, many small things can be put right: a flexible hose to tighten, an aerator clogged with limescale, a valve left half closed that is cutting your pressure. In these cases the 9.90 € video call is the only cost.
Other times a technician needs to come to your home: a broken pipe in a wall, a mixer to replace, a leak that cannot be found. Even then the call is not wasted. We already know what to bring, we give you an idea of the price before we come, and the 9.90 € is deducted from the final bill as a deposit, within 30 days.
For comparison, in Naples it is not unusual to pay 40-60 € just for a technician to come and have a look. If you start with the consultation and then a visit is really needed, you do not pay that money twice.

In the city, Posillipo, Chiaia and the Vomero are the areas where we work most. Our base is north of Naples, so the northern area and the Aversa plain, with Giugliano, Aversa, Lusciano and Trentola Ducenta, are close by. When you book, the diary takes into account the length of the job and the travel time, so the time you choose is realistic.
Each area has its typical problems. In historic centre buildings the pipes run through very thick walls and the drains end up in stacks shared by the whole building. Between the Vomero and Arenella many apartment blocks have systems that were redone one piece at a time. Blocked drains have a section of their own, as do water pressure and limescale.
