Water heater repair in Naples, electric and gas
We repair electric and gas water heaters in Naples and across Campania. You book the visit online and choose the day and time, and we tell you the price before we start. If you want to know what is wrong first, many faults show up after a few minutes of looking at the unit, even on a video call: a tripped RCD, flat batteries, or a valve that drips because it is meant to.
From €170 + VAT about 2 hoursReplacement: labour from €120, appliance not included

On a gas water heater, do not open the casing and do not touch the valve, burner or flue. On an electric one, before any check, cut the power at its own switch or at the fuse box. If you smell gas, do not switch on any lights. Go outside and call the gas distributor's emergency line from there.
Recognise the problem
- The water comes out lukewarm or cold even though the heater has been on for hours
- The hot water runs out after a few minutes in the shower
- The RCD trips when the electric water heater switches on
- The gas water heater clicks but the flame does not light
- Water drips from the valve pipe or from the bottom of the tank
- A code appears on the display or a light is flashing
The most common causes
- 1
Limescale build-up
In many parts of Naples the water is hard, and limescale settles on the heating element and at the bottom of the tank. The heater takes longer to warm up, uses more power, and the element eventually burns out.
- 2
Faulty heating element or thermostat
In an electric water heater the element heats the water and the thermostat decides when to switch it on and off. If either one fails, the water stays cold or the RCD trips as soon as the heater starts.
- 3
Ignition blocked on a gas water heater
Flat batteries, too little water flowing, or a safety device that has tripped can stop the flame from lighting. These are the most common causes, and they are often visible on video.
- 4
Safety valve and anode
The safety valve lets out the excess water as it heats and expands. The magnesium anode, a rod inside the tank, wears away in place of the steel. If nobody checks it, the tank is what corrodes next.
- 5
Unit at the end of its life
When water comes out of the tank body, or faults keep returning close together, repairing stops being worth it and we look at replacement.
What you can safely check yourself
- Check that the water heater switch is on and that the RCD in the fuse box has not been lowered
- If you have a gas water heater with batteries, try fresh batteries of the same type
- Check that the gas tap is open and that the kitchen hob lights
- Put a bowl under the drip and see where the water comes from, without taking anything apart
- Photograph the rating plate with the brand and model: we need it to find the manual and the parts
Never open the boiler or the gas water heater, and always switch off the power before touching an electrical appliance. If in doubt, call us.
When you need a technician at home
- The RCD trips again as soon as you switch the water heater back on
- Water comes out of the tank body, not from the valve
- The gas water heater switches itself off during use, and it happens more than once
- The element, thermostat, anode or safety valve needs replacing
- You want to replace the unit or switch from gas to electric

Electric and gas water heaters: two different kinds of fault
An electric water heater is a tank that keeps hot water ready. Inside are a heating element, a thermostat and a magnesium anode. The typical faults are water that does not heat, a tripping RCD and leaks. Almost always the cause is limescale or a worn part.
A gas water heater heats the water as it flows through, with a flame that lights when you open the tap. Here the problems are ignition, water flow and the flue. You do not work on the gas parts yourself. You check what is visible from outside, and the technician does the rest.
Knowing which kind of fault you have saves time. When you book, tell us the brand and model. If you have doubts, you can show us the unit on a video call first. Either the technician arrives with the right part, or you find out there is no need for a visit.
What a video call can solve and what it cannot
At a distance we can often fix the simple things that stop a unit: a switch turned off, a lowered RCD, a thermostat turned to minimum, flat batteries, a closed gas tap. A valve that drips while the water heats can also be explained in a few minutes, because in many cases that is normal behaviour.
A video call cannot fix a unit when a part has to be replaced, such as the element, thermostat, anode or valve, or when water is coming out of the tank. In that case the call helps us identify the fault, choose the part and give you an idea of the cost before the visit.
In Naples it is not unusual to pay €40-60 just for someone to come and look. The video call costs €9.90, and if you then need a visit, that amount is taken off the final bill.
Who comes to your home and where we work
The work is carried out by Air Tecnology Impianti di Pezone Mauro, a craft business based in Parete, in the province of Caserta. It is qualified under DM 37/2008 for heating and air-conditioning systems (letter C), water and sanitary systems (letter D) and gas systems (letter E). The technician who visits you, and who answers if you choose the remote consultation, is Mauro.
Installing or replacing a gas water heater requires the gas qualification, and at the end of the job you receive the declaration of conformity. For an electric unit, what matters is the plumbing connection and an electrical line suited to the unit's power.
We work in Naples and across Campania, and in the city mainly around Posillipo, Chiaia and the Vomero. From Parete we are also close to the north of Naples and the Aversa area: Aversa, Giugliano, Lusciano, Trentola Ducenta and the surrounding towns.
Want to know what it is first? Show us
Point your phone at the water heater: the rating plate, the lights or display, the switch, the gas tap and the spot where the water comes out. We guide you through the checks you can do without opening anything, and we work out whether that is enough or a part is needed. The consultation costs €9.90 for up to 15 minutes. If you then need a visit, the €9.90 is deducted from the bill.
Video consultation, up to 15 minutes: €9.90 (€14.90 on Sundays), deducted from the bill if we then come to your home.

Frequently asked questions
Is it better to repair the water heater or replace it?
It depends on what has broken. The element, thermostat, anode and valve can be replaced, and the heater works again. If water comes out of the tank body, a repair will not hold and replacing it makes more sense.
Can you really find the fault on a video call?
In many cases yes, because water heaters give clear signals: lights, codes, the spot where it drips, the sound of the ignition. When the cause cannot be seen from outside, we tell you so, and the call still helps us prepare the visit.
Do you also repair gas water heaters?
Yes. The business is qualified for gas systems too, letter E of DM 37/2008, so it can work on the gas parts. You must not. On video we only guide you through external checks, such as the batteries and the gas tap.
Which areas do you cover?
Naples and all of Campania. In the city we work mostly around Posillipo, Chiaia and the Vomero, and the north is close to Parete, where the business is based. When you book, the schedule also takes travel into account.
What happens to the €9.90 if I then need a visit?
We deduct it from the bill as a deposit, if the visit takes place within 30 days of the call. If you cancel before the video call, we refund you in full.
