Before opening the front panel or touching the filters, switch off the air conditioner and cut the power at the plug or the dedicated breaker. Do not open the outdoor unit and do not lean off the balcony to reach it: to show it to us, a photo taken from a safe position is enough.

The most common causes

Dirty filters and coil
This is the most common cause. Dust and kitchen grease clog the filters and the coil, the block of thin fins behind the filters where the air is cooled. Less air passes through, the cooling drops and sometimes ice forms.

Blocked condensate drain
The split removes moisture from the air and sends it outside through a small tube. If the tube clogs with mould, dust or insects, the water overflows the tray and runs into your home.

Refrigerant gas leak
The gas runs in a closed circuit and is not used up. If it is low, there is a leak somewhere, often at a fitting. It must be found and repaired before any recharge.

Electrical or circuit board fault
Voltage surges, storms and humidity can damage the circuit board or the start capacitor, a small component that helps the compressor and fan to start. The typical sign is a flashing light.

Outdoor unit under strain
Direct sun, leaves, dirt on the fins or a plant pot placed in front stop the outdoor motor from shedding heat. Near the sea, salt air tends to corrode fins and connections first.
What you can safely check yourself
- Check on the remote that cooling mode is on, usually the snowflake symbol, and that the batteries are charged.
- Switch off, cut the power, lift the front panel and look at the filters. If they are grey with dust, wash them in lukewarm water and let them dry.
- While the split is cooling, look at whether water comes out of the condensate tube outside. If it drips indoors and nothing comes out outside, the drain is blocked.
- Check that the breaker for the air conditioner in the fuse box is up.
- From the balcony, without leaning out, check that nothing is in front of the outdoor unit and that the fan turns.
Never open the boiler or the gas water heater, and always switch off the power before touching an electrical appliance. If in doubt, call us.

Home visit or remote consultation
The most direct route is to book the home visit online: you choose the day and time, and the schedule allows for the length of the job and the travel. If you would rather understand the problem first, the first thing to clarify is whether the fault is in the gas circuit or something simpler, such as full filters or an outdoor unit that cannot shed heat. Many of these things are easy to see on a phone screen.
In Naples several technicians charge 40-60 € just to come and look. The remote video consultation costs 9,90 € and lasts 15 minutes at most. If a visit is needed afterwards, that 9,90 € is deducted from the bill as a deposit, valid for 30 days. If you change your mind before the call, you cancel and get a full refund.

Brands, warranty and who does the work
We service and repair Samsung, LG, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Hisense and Haier air conditioners, and other brands common in Neapolitan homes. We are not an official service centre for any brand: we work as an independent company.
The work is carried out by Air Tecnology Impianti di Pezone Mauro, a craft business based in Parete, qualified under DM 37/2008 for air conditioning and climate control as well (letter C). If your appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, read the terms first: some brands require covered faults to be repaired by their own network.
A precise rule applies to refrigerant gas: by law (DPR 146/2018) recharging, installation and repairs on the circuit must be carried out by technicians and companies with F-gas certification, and the work must be recorded in the FGAS Database. Always ask to see the certificate, from anyone who comes into your home.
Summer in Naples: how to be ready
From June onwards splits run many hours a day, often with the outdoor motor in full sun on balconies and flat roofs. A fault put off in May becomes a long wait in July, when everyone calls at once.
The right time for cleaning is spring: filters, coil, condensate drain and a check of the outdoor unit. If you live near the sea, from Posillipo to Pozzuoli and on to Portici and Torre del Greco, it is wise to look at the condition of the fins and screws too, because salt air wears them down faster.

For a home split the practical rule is one full clean a year, before summer. You can wash the filters yourself more often during the season, as the manual describes. If you also use it for heating, a second check in autumn is worthwhile.
What do I need for the video call?
A charged phone, the remote and the ability to point the camera at the split. If the outdoor unit is on a balcony, have a photo of it ready. Keep the label with brand and model to hand as well.
