Radiators and heating in Naples and the province
In Naples the heating stays on only a few months a year, and that is exactly why in November the system wakes up with air in the pipes, stuck valves and a few drips too many. We look after radiators, heating systems and heat pumps in Naples and across Campania: you book the visit online and, if you want to understand the problem first, you show it to us remotely.
Quote before we start about 1 hourBleeding, valves, leaks, balancing

If the system is served by a gas boiler, do not open it or take parts off: bleeding is done only on the radiators. Very hot water can come out during bleeding, so let the system cool a little and hold the cloth under the valve.
Recognise the problem
- Some radiators are cold and others scalding
- The radiator is cold at the top and warm at the bottom
- You hear gurgling in the pipes when the heating starts
- The boiler pressure drops after bleeding
- A radiator valve drips onto the floor
- The heat pump runs but the house stays cold
The most common causes
- 1
Air in the system
After summer or after work on the system, air collects at the top of the radiators. Hot water does not reach all the way up and you hear gurgling.
- 2
Stuck or closed valves
The thermostatic valve, the one with the numbered knob, has a pin underneath that can stick after months idle. Or the lockshield valve, on the other side of the radiator, may be fully closed.
- 3
Low pressure
With too little water in the system the boiler locks out or cannot heat all the radiators. The pressure gauge on the boiler shows it at once.
- 4
Unbalanced or dirty system
If the radiators furthest from the boiler stay lukewarm, the water takes the shortest path. Sludge, meaning rust and dirt settled at the bottom, makes things worse.
- 5
Heat pump set up badly
A weather-compensation curve that is too low, wrong time slots or a dirty water filter make a machine that is only working badly look faulty.
What you can safely check yourself
- Check that the boiler or heat pump is in winter mode and that the room thermostat is calling for heat.
- Look at the pressure gauge: with the system cold many boilers run between 1 and 1.5 bar, but the right value for yours is in the manual.
- Open the knob fully on the cold radiators.
- With the system on for half an hour, touch the radiators: cold at the top means air, cold at the bottom suggests dirt.
- If your building has central heating, ask the neighbours whether they have the same problem.
Never open the boiler or the gas water heater, and always switch off the power before touching an electrical appliance. If in doubt, call us.
When you need a technician at home
- A radiator leaking water from the body or the fittings
- Pressure that keeps dropping even without bleeding
- All the radiators cold while the boiler makes hot water normally
- Flushing the system of sludge, or balancing it
- Replacing radiators and valves, or installing a heat pump

Radiators: what you can fix yourself and what you can't
Bleeding is the most useful household job before winter: you need a key, a cloth and a few minutes per radiator. Done properly, it fixes most radiators that are lukewarm at the top.
After bleeding the pressure drops and has to be brought back to the manual's value with the boiler's filling tap. If you have to top it up often, the system is losing water somewhere, or the expansion vessel, the tank that absorbs the expansion of hot water, has lost its air charge.
Dripping valves, radiators to take off for painting, thermostatic valves to fit or replace: these are jobs for a technician. Here too the video call helps work out which part to bring.
Heat pumps: a different system from a boiler
The heat pump takes heat from the outside air and brings it indoors: into the water of the radiators or the floor, or straight into the air like a split. With Naples' mild winters it works in favourable conditions, but it performs best with low-temperature water.
That is why the typical problems differ from those of a boiler. There is the weather-compensation curve, the rule by which the machine decides how hot to make the water according to the cold outside, then the water filters, defrost cycles and error codes. Many can be read and corrected remotely.
If you are thinking of switching from a boiler to a heat pump, a video consultation helps you understand whether your radiators are suitable and what work is needed, before you ask for quotes.
Naples and Campania: different homes, different problems
In the apartment blocks of the Vomero and Arenella you often find cast-iron radiators and independent systems added later, with long pipes and complicated runs. There, balancing, meaning adjusting the lockshield valves so water reaches every radiator, makes the difference.
In the villas of the Aversa plain and the north, the boiler is often on a balcony or in an outside room, and the heating has to serve two floors. These are also the areas closest to the Parete base of Air Tecnology Impianti, the company that carries out the work, qualified for heating under DM 37/2008 (letter C).
In buildings with central heating, hours and water temperature depend on the administrator and the terzo responsabile, the firm appointed to run the boiler room. We work on what is inside your home: radiators, valves and connections.
Want to know what it is first? Show us
You show us the radiators, the boiler or the heat pump with its display, the pressure gauge and the valves. We guide you through bleeding, topping up the pressure and reading the codes. If the system needs taking apart, parts replaced or balancing, we tell you what to do and roughly what it costs.
Video consultation, up to 15 minutes: €9.90 (€14.90 on Sundays), deducted from the bill if we then come to your home.

Frequently asked questions
How often should radiators be bled?
Usually once a year, before turning the heating on, and whenever you hear gurgling or find a radiator cold at the top. If air keeps coming back, something is letting it in and a check is worthwhile.
Why are the radiators cold when the boiler works?
The most common causes are air in the system, low pressure or closed valves. If all of them are cold while hot water at the bathroom tap arrives, the problem may be inside the boiler, for example in the valve that sends water to the radiators or in the circulation pump.
Do you also deal with heat pumps?
Yes, both faults and advice on a new installation. Heat pumps suit a video call well, because parameters and error codes can be read from the display or the app.
How much does radiator work cost in Naples?
It depends a lot on the job. A guided bleed is often solved on a video call, while replacing a valve or a radiator needs parts and labour. We give you the figure once we understand the fault, before touching anything.
Central heating isn't heating: who should I call?
If the problem affects the whole building, the administrator or the terzo responsabile of the boiler room. If only your radiators are cold and your neighbours' are not, the fault is probably in your home: air, valves or dirt.
Can I bleed the radiators myself?
Yes, anyone can do it, with the system off and a cloth under the small valve. If it is your first time, on a video call we take you through it step by step, including the pressure check at the end.
