Pellet stove cleaning and maintenance in Naples
A pellet stove burns well only when it is clean. Some tasks you do yourself, with the stove cold, in a few minutes. Once a year the technician does the full clean, taking the internal parts apart. We do it at your home in Naples and Campania, before the cold arrives or at the end of the season.

Ash stays hot for hours even when it looks out: empty the drawer only with the stove cold and put the ash in a metal container with a lid, never in the rubbish bag. If you smell smoke during use or feel dizzy, turn off the stove, air the room and leave it.
Recognise the problem
- The glass turns black after a few hours of running
- The flame is tall, lazy and orange instead of lively
- Pellet and ash that do not burn completely stay in the burn pot
- You use more pellet than last year in the same cold
- The last cleaning by a technician was more than a year ago
The most common causes
- 1
Heat exchanger covered in ash
The heat exchanger passes the heat of the flue gases to the room air or to the water. Covered in ash, it heats little and lets more heat go up the flue.
- 2
Flue gas fan clogged with dust
The fan that pushes the flue gases towards the outlet works in the middle of the ash. With dirty blades it draws less, and the stove stops because it does not sense enough draught.
- 3
Worn gaskets
The gaskets on the door and the ash drawer keep the combustion chamber sealed. If they are squashed or broken, air gets in where it should not and the flame goes out of adjustment.
- 4
Burn pot holes blocked
The burn pot is the perforated crucible in which the pellet burns. If deposits block the holes, air does not pass at ignition and the pellet piles up without catching fire.
What you can safely check yourself
- Every day or before each lighting, as many manuals ask, remove the ash from the burn pot and check that the holes are clear.
- Empty the ash drawer when it is full, using a proper ash vacuum and not the household vacuum cleaner.
- Clean the glass with the stove cold, using a damp cloth, with no abrasive sponges.
- If the manual says so, once a week clean the grille of the room fan.
- Do everything with the stove off, cold and unplugged, and never take off the outer panels.
Never open the boiler or the gas water heater, and always switch off the power before touching an electrical appliance. If in doubt, call us.
When you need a technician at home
- Once a year, for the full cleaning of the stove and flue duct
- At the start of the season, if the stove has been idle all summer
- When the glass gets dirty quickly even with quality pellet
- When draught or hot flue gas alarms appear
- On a boiler stove, also for the checks on the water circuit

How often to clean a pellet stove
The precise answer is in your model's manual, but manufacturers' indications are similar. The burn pot is checked every day or before each lighting. The ash drawer is emptied when full, usually every few days of use. The glass is cleaned when it gets cloudy.
Other cleanings are less frequent. The manual of a Palazzetti stove, for example, gives cleaning of the flue gas compartment every two months and of the T-connector every 500 kg of pellet burned, roughly 33 bags of 15 kg.
Once a year the full maintenance by a technician is needed, as manufacturers' manuals require: combustion chamber, heat exchanger, flue gas fan, gaskets, electrics and flue, with a note in the logbook.
What we do during maintenance
We open the stove with the power disconnected and remove the parts that get dirty: burn pot and its housing, flue passages, heat exchanger, flue gas fan. We remove ash and soot with brushes and a vacuum, clean the flue duct and the T-connector, and look at the condition of the flue.
Then the checks: gaskets, glow plug, flue gas probe, pressure switch and its small tube, where ash often gets stuck. We relight, adjust the stove to the pellet you use, update the logbook and leave you the inspection report.
Is maintenance mandatory?
A fixed stove that heats the home should be treated as a heating system. Under DPR 74/2013 maintenance is carried out by a qualified business, at the interval set by the installer or the manufacturer, and recorded in the logbook. In Campania, regional law 39/2018 also provides for inspection reports to be sent to the register of heating systems.
Beyond obligations, skipping it costs money: the stove uses more pellet, goes into alarm in the coldest weeks, and many manufacturers tie the warranty to regular maintenance. Book at the end of the season or in September: online you choose the day and time.
Want to know what it is first? Show us
The real cleaning is done at your home, with the stove open and the right tools. On a video call, though, we can teach you the daily cleaning on your model: where the burn pot unhooks, how to empty the ash drawer, where the T-connector cap is.
Video consultation, up to 15 minutes: €9.90 (€14.90 on Sundays), deducted from the bill if we then come to your home.

Frequently asked questions
How often should a pellet stove be cleaned?
You check the burn pot every day and empty the ash when needed. The technician does the full cleaning once a year, together with the flue. If the stove runs all day for months, an extra visit may be needed.
How much does pellet stove maintenance cost?
On the market a yearly cleaning generally runs from 90 to 300 €, with many quotes between 120 and 170 € for an air stove. We tell you our price before starting.
Can I do the cleaning myself instead of calling the technician?
The routine cleaning yes, in fact it is up to you. Not the internal dismantling, the flue gas fan and the sensors: they involve electrical and sealed parts, and the logbook then has to be updated by whoever did the work.
Do you also clean boiler stoves?
Yes. Besides cleaning the flue side, we check the pressure, vents and safety devices of the water circuit. Time and price are a little higher than for an air stove.
