Air conditioner installation in Naples
A well-fitted air conditioner lasts for years and uses what it should; fitted in a hurry, it leaks gas, drips or makes noise under the neighbour's window. With us, installing a mono split costs from 250 € + VAT near our base in Parete and from 260 € to 310 € + VAT in Naples, depending on the district, with the two units back to back, meaning on opposite sides of the same wall, up to 3 metres of piping and F-gas certification included. Before buying, decide where to put the two units, which way the pipes will run and what your condominium rules say.

Do not fit the outdoor unit yourself on balconies or facades: the work is at height, with heavy loads and electrical connections.
Recognise the problem
- You have bought a home and want cooling for the summer
- There is pre-wiring but you do not know if the pipes are still good
- The old split needs replacing and you want to reuse the holes
- You do not know if the outdoor unit can go on the facade or the balcony
- You already have the air conditioner in its box and need someone to fit it
The most common causes
- 1
Circuit not put under vacuum
Before opening the gas, air and moisture in the pipes must be removed with a dedicated pump. Skipping this step shortens the life of the compressor and sets up leaks.
- 2
Poorly tightened fittings
The nuts joining the pipes to the units must be tightened with the right force, measured with a special wrench. Too loose and they leak gas, too tight and they crack.
- 3
Condensate drain with no slope
If the tube does not fall continuously, the water stagnates and sooner or later runs into the house.
- 4
Outdoor unit in the wrong place
Shut in a niche, against the wall or in full sun, it struggles to shed heat and uses more power. Under a neighbour's window, noise and hot air become a problem.
- 5
Capacity chosen by eye
A split that is too small cannot cope in strong heat; one that is too big switches on and off constantly and removes little moisture. Capacity is chosen on square metres, exposure, floor and insulation.
What you can safely check yourself
- Read the condominium rules or ask the administrator whether there are rules for outdoor units on the facade.
- Check whether there is pre-wiring at home: usually a box in the wall with two copper pipes and a small condensate tube coming out.
- See whether there is a suitable socket near the chosen spot, or photograph the fuse box.
- Measure the room and note the exposure: afternoon sun, top floor, large windows.
- Photograph, from inside and outside, the wall where you would like the split.
Never open the boiler or the gas water heater, and always switch off the power before touching an electrical appliance. If in doubt, call us.
When you need a technician at home
- Fitting a new split, mono or dual, meaning two indoor units on a single outdoor motor
- Replacing an old air conditioner, including removal
- Checking and cleaning an existing pre-wiring
- Moving the outdoor unit

Outdoor unit: distances, neighbours and condominium
In general no national law sets a distance from the neighbour for the outdoor unit. What counts is the condominium regulation, the municipal building regulation and the Civil Code rule on nuisance (art. 844): noise and hot air must not exceed normal tolerability.
In practice: do not point the motor at someone else's window, leave behind and to the sides the space the manual asks for, and take the condensate to a drain rather than letting it fall on the balcony below.
For an ordinary home split a building permit is usually not needed, but in protected buildings and in some areas of the historic centre there may be limits on facade installation. Before drilling, ask the administrator and, if necessary, the Municipality.
Documents and gas: what to insist on
When the job is finished, the installer must give you the declaration of conformity required by DM 37/2008. Keep it with the invoice and the manual.
Also ask them to fill in the system logbook, the document in which the air conditioner's data and later checks are recorded. For bonuses and tax deductions, check before buying with your accountant or on the Agenzia delle Entrate website.
Connecting the units and opening the gas circuit is work that by law (DPR 146/2018) belongs to technicians and companies with F-gas certification, with the work recorded in the FGAS Database. Ask for the certificate before installation, from us as from anyone else.
When to install
In Naples the rush for air conditioners starts with the first real heat, and from then waits get longer. If you arrange the survey in spring, you choose the day, instead of taking what is left.
Near the sea it is worth asking where the outdoor unit will be most sheltered: salt air tends to damage fins and screws first. A less exposed position, or a model with corrosion-treated fins, can make a difference over the years.
Want to know what it is first? Show us
You can do the survey on a video call: you show us the room, the wall, the balcony or flat roof where the outdoor unit would go, and the fuse box. We assess the pipe route, the condensate drain and any extra work, so the quote is clear. We confirm final measurements at the house, before drilling.
Video consultation, up to 15 minutes: €9.90 (€14.90 on Sundays), deducted from the bill if we then come to your home.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to install an air conditioner in Naples?
With us, installing a mono split costs from 250 € + VAT near our base in Parete and from 260 € to 310 € + VAT in Naples, depending on the district: indoor and outdoor units back to back, up to 3 metres of piping, F-gas certification included. Beyond 3 metres, with special brackets or work at height the price changes; the price for your town includes travel and you see it in full when you book.
How far from the neighbour can I put the outdoor unit?
Usually no national law sets a precise distance: what counts is the condominium regulation, the municipal building regulation and the limit on noise and hot air towards neighbours. It is best not to point it at other people's windows or balconies and to respect the clearances the manufacturer asks for.
Do I need a system logbook for the air conditioner?
Ask the installer to fill it in: it is the system's register, where the air conditioner's data and later checks are recorded. Together with the declaration of conformity it shows the work was done properly.
Can I use the pre-wiring already in the house?
Often yes, but it must be checked: pipes that are crushed, dirty or left open for years can cause problems later. Before connecting the units, tightness and cleanliness are verified.
