Do not take the boiler apart and do not touch the gas or electrical parts: the reset is done only from the control panel. If you smell gas, do not press anything on the boiler, open the windows, go outside and call the distributor's emergency line from there.
Recognise the problem

- With C6 the boiler locks out while you can hear the fan running

The most common causes

Flame not detected
The boiler opens the gas but does not see the flame: gas tap closed, gas arriving poorly, electrodes dirty or disconnected.

Low system pressure
With too little water in the circuit, the boiler stops and shows CE. If the pressure drops often, a leak has to be found.

Air and flue gases
The fan pushes the fumes out and a pressure switch monitors the airflow. If either one works badly, or the flue is blocked, C6 appears.

Electronics and sensors
Board, probes and wiring can develop faults over the years that no reset will clear.
What you can safely check yourself
- Read the code and photograph it, along with the rating plate
- See whether the gas tap handle under the boiler is in the open position and whether the kitchen burners light
- Read the pressure gauge before the boiler heats up
- If the manual allows it, use the reset button once and wait
- Check from outside that the flue terminal on the wall or balcony is not covered
Never open the boiler or the gas water heater, and always switch off the power before touching an electrical appliance. If in doubt, call us.

Most common error codes on Junkers and Bosch boilers
EA, flame not detected: the boiler cannot light or recognise the flame. Bosch gives as first checks the gas tap being open, which you can confirm with the hob, and the water pressure. If all is in order, the fault is in a component.
CE, low system pressure: there is little water in the heating circuit. Bosch says to bring the pressure back to about 1.2 bar. If the code stays, you need a technician.
C6, insufficient airflow: the boiler cannot guarantee the air passage it needs. The parts involved are the fan, the pressure switch and the board, and these are not checks you can do as a user.
Codes and procedures change between series and production years, and on some models a number is added to the code. That is why we always start from the rating plate and the manual for your boiler.
Junkers is now called Bosch
Junkers has been part of the Bosch group since 1932, and in Italy, since September 2018, the brand has been integrated into Bosch. For this reason many boilers installed as Junkers now have a Bosch equivalent.
Bosch itself states that the technology of Junkers products stays the same, that owners do not have to replace them and that it continues to make parts for earlier models. When a part is needed, we start from the product code written on the rating plate.
Junkers and Bosch out of warranty
We are not an official Junkers or Bosch service centre. We repair these boilers like the others, as a business qualified under DM 37/2008 for heating and gas systems, with parts chosen according to the model.
If the boiler is still under warranty, read the manufacturer's conditions first. Out of warranty, a repair in the Naples area generally costs between €40 and €250 depending on the fault. The precise price comes after the diagnosis, before we start.

What does EA mean on a Junkers or Bosch boiler?
That the boiler has not detected the flame. Check that the gas tap is open and that the water pressure is right, then try a reset. If the code returns, the ignition needs checking.
Can code CE be solved on my own?
Often yes: it is enough to bring the system pressure back to the stated value, about 1.2 bar according to Bosch. If it drops again, there is a leak or a problem with the expansion vessel, and you need a technician.
