Cooker gas connection in Naples: a hob that meets the rules
You have a new kitchen, a hob to fit or a gas hose past its date. The connection is made by a business qualified for gas systems: it chooses the right fitting, carries out the tightness test and leaves you the declaration of conformity. If you first show us the tap, the space and the type of cooker, in photos or on a video call, we arrive with the right part.
Quote before we start about 1 hour 30 minutesHob connection, leak test, declaration of conformity

Do not connect the hob yourself and do not tighten gas fittings by hand. Do not look for leaks with a flame. If you smell gas, do not touch any switches, open the windows, go outside and call the distributor's emergency line from there.
Recognise the problem
- You have bought a built-in hob to connect
- The replacement date on the rubber hose has passed
- The hose is crushed behind the units or touches the oven
- The new kitchen has its connection in a different position
- The meter is there already but the gas in the kitchen has to be brought in or moved
- The kitchen gas tap is stiff or very old
The most common causes
- 1
Expired rubber hose
A rubber hose conforming to UNI 7140 has printed on it the date by which it must be replaced. It must be changed by that date, even if it looks intact.
- 2
Connection not suited to a built-in hob
For a built-in hob the connection is made with a steel flexible hose or a rigid pipe. Rubber can only be used with freestanding cookers.
- 3
Tap or fittings to redo
Old taps, improvised fittings or extra adapters are weak points. When the hose is changed it is worth sorting those out too.
- 4
Gas point to move
If the new kitchen has its connection elsewhere, the final section of the system is modified. It is a small job on the gas system and it must be documented.
What you can safely check yourself
- Read the markings on the hose: standard, type of gas and expiry date
- Photograph the hob's label showing the gas it is set for
- Check that the hose does not run behind the oven and is not bent or crushed
- Check, without taking it apart, that the kitchen tap opens and closes without effort
- Measure the space behind the unit where the connection will run
Never open the boiler or the gas water heater, and always switch off the power before touching an electrical appliance. If in doubt, call us.
When you need a technician at home
- A hob or a new cooker has to be connected
- The hose is damaged or has passed its expiry date
- The hob has to be converted from LPG to natural gas or the reverse
- The gas point has to be moved or the tap replaced
Rubber or steel: which hose for your kitchen
The rubber gas hose is governed by standard UNI 7140, and the manufacturer states its life by printing an expiry date on the hose. The technical datasheets say it clearly: that date must be respected even if the hose shows no signs of wear.
The stainless steel flexible hose, conforming to UNI EN 14800, has no expiry date. It is not eternal: it must be checked and replaced if it is crushed or corroded. For built-in hobs it is the required choice along with the rigid pipe, while for freestanding cookers rubber can also be used.
Anyone searching for a kitchen gas hose with no expiry is usually looking for exactly this: the steel flexible hose. We fit it with the right fittings, with no improvised adapters.
How the connection works
The gas is shut off, the old connection is removed and the tap is checked. The new hose is fitted, and we check that it does not run near hot parts and does not end up crushed when the unit goes back in place.
Then the tightness test is done, which is the check that there are no leaks, and every burner is tried. If the hob was set for a different gas from the one in your home, the nozzles are changed, the small calibrated holes the gas comes out of.
At the end you receive the declaration of conformity for the work done. If the gas is already on and you are only changing the cooker connection, there is usually nothing to submit to the distributor. If the system is new or modified and the supply has to be activated, the declaration is also needed for the accertamento documentale.
Want to know what it is first? Show us
You show us the kitchen gas tap, the current hose with its printed markings, the back of the unit and the hob's label. We tell you what type of connection is needed and whether anything has to be adapted. The connection and the tightness test, however, are only done at your home.

Frequently asked questions
Can I fit the kitchen gas hose myself?
No. Connecting a gas appliance is work on the system and must be carried out by a letter E qualified business. At the end it gives you the declaration of conformity.
How often should the rubber hose be changed?
By the date printed on the hose, which the manufacturer sets in line with standard UNI 7140. Earlier if it is cracked or has hardened.
Is the steel hose fine for every kitchen?
Yes, the UNI EN 14800 stainless steel flexible hose is used both with freestanding cookers and with built-in hobs, where rubber is not allowed. It has no expiry date, but it must be checked over time.
I have a meter but gas never reached the kitchen. Can it be done?
Yes, the gas is brought to the kitchen from the existing system. It is a modification of the system: a qualified business carries it out and at the end you receive the declaration of conformity.
My hob is LPG and my home has natural gas. What do I do?
It is converted by changing the nozzles and adjusting the minimum flame, following the manufacturer's instructions. It is a job for a technician. On video you show us the label and we check whether the natural gas nozzles are already in the box.
